About Our Practice

San Jose Integrative Medicine is a well-established, warm, and patient-centered integrative clinic in San Jose, California. Led by Dr. Kimberly Brown, ND, LAc, our practice specializes in hormone balancing, thyroid health, digestive wellness, and women's health — with a strong focus on perimenopause and menopause. We offer naturopathic medicine, functional medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine, BHRT, and massage therapy, all under one roof.

Our patients are predominantly women seeking natural, root-cause solutions after struggling with hormone imbalances, thyroid disorders, and GI issues. We have an active, loyal patient base and an excellent reputation in the community (4.7 stars on Google).

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, self-directed Naturopathic Doctor to cover our practice on a contractor basis for an anticipated 2 to 3 months while Dr. Brown takes a sabbatical. This is a rare opportunity to step into a thriving, fully operational practice with an established patient population — and be compensated generously for doing so. Upon completion of Dr. Brown’s sabbatical, there will be an opportunity to continue with the practice.

The position may be structured as in-person, telehealth, or a combination of both, depending on the candidate's preference and availability.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing an existing patient panel — follow-up appointments, lab orders, lab review, treatment plan adjustments, and patient portal communication
• Seeing new patients in specialties aligned with the practice focus
• Prescribing and managing bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for perimenopausal and menopausal women
• Diagnosing and managing thyroid disorders (including nuanced interpretation of thyroid labs and natural/desiccated thyroid prescribing)
• Treating gastrointestinal conditions: IBS, SIBO, leaky gut, Candida, food intolerances, and gut-brain axis concerns
• Collaborating with our massage therapist and acupuncturist (in-person candidates)
• Maintaining thorough documentation in our EMR system

Requirements

• Active California ND license (non-negotiable)
• Demonstrated clinical experience with BHRT / bioidentical hormones — you must be ready to manage perimenopausal and menopausal patients from day one
• Strong working knowledge of thyroid health, including hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, and natural vs. synthetic thyroid options
• Experience treating GI conditions using naturopathic and functional medicine approaches
• Comfortable with functional lab interpretation (Dutch test, comprehensive thyroid panels, CDSA, etc.)
• Professional, compassionate communication style — our patients are accustomed to being listened to

Preferred / Bonus

• Active DEA license (enables testosterone prescribing for appropriate patients — a meaningful differentiator for our practice)
• Experience with telehealth delivery
• Familiarity with Elation Health EMR, Charm or similar systems
• Interest in or experience with acupuncture (a plus, not required)

Compensation & Terms

This is a contractor position with very generous compensation, structured to reflect the responsibility and expertise required. Details will be discussed individually with qualified candidates — we are committed to making this arrangement attractive for the right person.

• Flexible scheduling within practice hours (Mon–Thu 9am–5pm, Fri 9am–12pm)
• Full operational support — front desk, scheduling, and support staff in place
• Access to our Fullscript dispensary
• Support from Dr. Brown before and during sabbatical
• Option for telehealth-only arrangement for out-of-area California-licensed NDs
