The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Women's Wrestling Coach. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. Responsibilities: The Assistant Coach is responsible for providing administrative, instructional and coaching assistance to the Head Coach with the purpose of building a successful, competitive intercollegiate sports program that also retains and graduates student-athletes.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent);
  • Three years of men's or women's wrestling coaching experience at the intercollegiate, high school, club, international, USA, or developmental program level and/or experience as a world class/professional wrestling athlete with proven competitive success and leadership abilities;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated through public speaking engagements, clinician experience, and/or use of effective and creative training/coaching techniques;
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Demonstrated leadership development skills;
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to:
    • Effectively teach, coach and train all positions;
    • Effectively teach technical and tactical strategies in defensive systems;
    • Effectively communicate with and successfully recruit national caliber student-athletes;
    • Utilize basic office productivity software, online database systems, and digital video software for scouting and analysis;
    • Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Three years of wrestling coaching experience;
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program;
  • Competitive wrestling experience at the collegiate, Olympic or international level;
  • Completion of coaching education and/or certification or other opportunities that demonstrate a commitment to coaching growth and development;
  • NCAA recruiting experience;
  • Working knowledge of and ability to:
    • Utilize video analysis systems and effectively implement new technologies to the training environment;
    • Develop and manage social media websites;
  • Demonstrated proficiency and ability to:
    • Utilize an online recruiting database such as Front Rush and University Athlete (please specify);
    • Maintain productive, long-term relationships with staff, students, prospect's coaches, and patrons.
  • Genuine passion for and experience with supporting the holistic development of student-athletes, recognizing the interconnectedness of mental health and overall well-being.
