Crusader Meats is a well-established New Zealand meat processing company specialising in high quality lamb and mutton products for domestic and international markets. We are seeking skilled Slaughterers to join our processing team and support our growing production demands. About the Role As a Slaughterer, you will be responsible for preparing animal carcasses for further processing. You’ll work as part of a dedicated production team, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and product quality. These are full-time positions commencing in June. A minimum of 60 hours per fortnight is guaranteed and a maximum of hours will not exceed 10.07 hours per day. Normal hours of work for these positions are Monday to Friday 6.51am to 5:25pm, with some Saturday work required over peak season. Key Responsibilities * Humanely restrain and slaughter livestock in accordance with New Zealand animal welfare regulations. * Perform stunning, sticking, bleeding, hide removal, evisceration, trimming, and carcass preparation. * Operate knives and other cutting equipment safely and efficiently. * Follow all hygiene, food safety, and workplace health and safety procedures. * Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment. * Work as part of a fast paced production line to meet daily processing targets. * Identify and report any defects, contamination, or non compliance issues. * Assist with general processing duties as required. Skills, Experience, and Requirements * At least one year of experience in commercial meat processing or slaughter operations, OR equivalent skills gained through formal training. * Proven ability to use knives and cutting tools safely and effectively. * Understanding of animal welfare requirements and safe handling practices. * Good physical fitness i.e. can lift 20 to 30 kg and be on your feet for up to 3 hours at a time * Ability to work in chilled or warm processing areas. * Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to safe work practices. * Must pass pre employment drug and alcohol testing. * Clean driver’s license - minimum restricted or overseas equivalent What We Offer * Stable, full time employment with opportunities for long term career development. * Competitive pay rates aligned with industry standards. * Life and Health insurances - where eligible * Full training and ongoing support. * A supportive team environment with a strong focus on safety and wellbeing. * Opportunities for progression within the processing plant.
