Financial Aid

Job Purpose:

To support student retention andgraduation by providing proactive financial aid counseling and intervention strategies, with a focus on the Federal Student Loan, ParentLoan, Graduate Loan and Alternative Loan Programs.

Essential Duties:

  • Works with others to process FederalStudent Loan, Parent Loan, Graduate Loan and Alternative Loans
  • Primary contact for Alternative Loan Lenders
  • Liaisonwith loan guarantors, loan servicers, Common Origination Disbursement (COD) and loan surveys
  • Responsible for the import and export of Federal Loan and Alternative Loan files
  • Reconcile monthly and close out yearly theDirect Loan Program in conjunction with Assistant Controller and reconciliation of Alternative Loan Program with Bursar
  • Supervisea Financial Aid Counselor, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective assistance with loan processing
  • Reviewand award financial aid packages in compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and guidelines
  • Counselprospective, new, current students and parents in person and in group settings concerning application, eligibility status, and awarding offinancial aid and financing programs as well as general inquiries
  • Verification and evaluation of student application data usingfederal tax information, asset review forms, household size/number in college form and other verification documents to determine eligibilityfor federal, state, and institutional need-based assistance
Additional Skills Required:
  • Familiarity withFederal Loan processing; federal and alternative loans preferred
  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency with technological skillsrequired for performance
  • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Familiarity with relational databasesand other recruitment systems - Banner preferred
  • Must maintain highest levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each personsworth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
  • Must be able torespect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum EducationRequirements:

  • Bachelors Degree
Preferred Education:

Minimum Job Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of experience in Financial Aid, or equivalent experience in higher education or business

Schedule/Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Additional hours as required.
