InformationPosition SummaryThe Department of Linguistics within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo is seeking
a Japanese Language Lecturer for a 10-month (academic-year commitment) full-time, non-tenure track position with an initial
two-year appointment with possible renewal, contingent on performance, department need, and availability of program funding.
The
successful candidates responsibilities include teaching three Japanese language courses per semester at assigned levels, as well as
providing assistance to the Japanese Program Director such as supervising first-year language courses and Japanese internship, conducting
placement tests, and material development. The successful candidate must be able to regularly teach in-person classes on the University at
Buffalo campus beginning fall 2026.

related field.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching Japanese
language at all levels to English-speaking students at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications- At least two
years of experience teaching Japanese at the university level is preferred.
- Familiarity with contemporary second language teaching
methodologies, instructional technologies and curriculum development is desired.
