Summary of Position The Biology Department at RRCC is seeking a
part-time instructor to teach Biology courses. While the primary need is for in-person classes, online sections may also be
available.
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a passion for teaching and helping students succeed. The successful
candidate has a strong commitment to effective, engaging teaching and creates a class environment that encourages learning. The instructor
must be patient and respectful, while also providing clear expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display
dedication to the class as well as to the goals of the program.
Part-time instructor responsibilities include instruction, student
assessment, and other related instructional duties. Face-to-face classes may be held days or evenings. Online classes have primarily
asynchronous instruction through the CO Online@ consortium.
This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does
not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing
to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online classes.
This posting is open and continuous to accept

& Abilities
- Demonstrated ability and desire to teach students online and face-to-face.
- Demonstrated ability to work
effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience preparing, managing, and delivering course
content using Desire2Learn (D2L) or a similar learning management system
- Expertise in biology.
- Experience creating lesson
plans, activities, and assessments that lead students to successfully attain course learning outcomes and competencies.
Required
Qualifications
- Master's degree from a fully accredited institution in Biology or a related field and at least 18 graduate credit
hours in Biology.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 15 credit hours of teaching experience in higher
education.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which
may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
- Proficiency in curriculum
development and instruction.
- Experience teaching in a community college and an understanding of the role, philosophy, and mission of
community colleges.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly
associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10
lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely
uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and
external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include
comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal
skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay
The hourly pay for this
position is $1,620.04-$1782.04 per credit hour for lecture/lab classes and $1,149.00-$1,263.00 per credit hour for non-lab lecture classes,
commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on
budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
