This full-time permanent position is located within the Bureau of Business Services, Division of Business Management within WisDOT. This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The individual hired will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison at least 2 days per week. All employees are expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary


This position is responsible for providing facility management services such as managing and overseeing maintenance and repair of building systems, space management and design, building and grounds maintenance for assigned facilities statewide, and ensuring responsible project administration in areas of construction, operation, alteration, repair and maintenance. This position will provide support to staff managing leased locations, other facility managers, and perform special project work or administrative functions as assigned.

This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate and estimate the tangible and intangible costs of maintenance, repair, and recommendations for new construction or renovation. This position interacts with the Department of Administration (DOA) and other outside entities on facility and project management related matters.

The work also requires good judgement, the ability to communicate professionally, be responsive to management and customer's needs, handle time sensitive situations effectively, make technically and legally sound recommendations and decisions, and develop and maintain effective working relationships with business partners.


Salary Information


This position is in schedule-range (07-03) with an annual salary of $70,720 - $79,040 (or $34 - $38 per hour), plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details


Occasional in-state travel is required to visit remote work locations.

Qualifications


Qualified applicants must detail having experience in all the following in order to be considered:

  • Performing project management duties (which may include planning projects; preparing project justifications; preparing and monitoring budgets associated with the project; reviewing, certifying, and approving requests for payments; forecasting total costs; or approving project changes, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting and implementing comprehensive solutions for issues/problems

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will also detail having experience with one or more of the following:

  • Working with commercial building system operations, maintenance and/or management (which may include working with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, direct digital temperature control systems, computerized maintenance management systems, etc.)
  • Reading and interpreting building plans and/or specifications
  • Utilizing AutoCAD or other space design software
