Job Description

Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union in Enfield, CT is seeking a motivated and service-oriented individual to join our team as a Loan Officer. This position includes a structured training period as a Member Service Representative (teller), providing a strong foundation in our systems and member service approach. After successful completion of training, the candidate will transition into the Loan Officer role while continuing to serve as a backup teller as needed.

This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional service to our members.

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday: 7:50 AM – 4:40 PM
  • Rotating Saturdays (required): 8:50 AM – 12:10 PM

Key Responsibilities (Loan Officer):

  • Evaluate, process, and disburse consumer loans, home equity loans, and credit cards
  • Analyze credit reports and identify opportunities to recommend additional credit union products
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with members, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities
  • Stay current on lending regulations, compliance requirements, and credit union policies through ongoing training

Training & Member Service Responsibilities:

  • Complete initial training as a Member Service Representative (teller)
  • Serve as a backup teller, including Saturdays as scheduled
  • Accurately process member transactions in accordance with established policies
  • Provide courteous, professional, and confidential service
  • Adhere to all security protocols, compliance standards, and internal controls

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in lending, underwriting, loan processing, or banking preferred, but not required
  • Previous teller or cash-handling experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, email)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to member-focused service
