Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

This position will be located in the Solid Waste Management Program, 1730 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do
  • Ensure citizens and regulated entities comply with solid waste management law and regulations.
  • Assist citizens and regulated entities with compliance solutions.
  • Apply consistent enforcement actions when applicable.
  • Communicate regularly with State intra-agency and interagency teams.
  • Coordinate work plan inspection activities.
Qualifications - All you need for success

To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

  • Environmental Science: Knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources.
  • Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies.
  • Analysis and Assessment: Using information technology to access, collect, analyze, maintain, and convey data/information.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field, and 4-6 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Experience in data analytics is preferred (additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience).
  • Three or more years of experience as an Environmental Program Analyst.
  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
