Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range: $50,000 to $54,000 Per Year

Position Summary

The Kansas Department of Agriculture is seeking a proactive and customer-oriented IT Support Analyst to provide technical support to end-users across multiple state agencies. This position is responsible for delivering on-site and remote assistance for a wide range of hardware, software, account access, connectivity, and peripheral issues. The IT Support Analyst plays an important role in maintaining reliable daily IT operations, supporting staff productivity, and ensuring a positive customer service experience. The ideal candidate will be skilled in troubleshooting, device configuration, application support, and documentation, and able to adapt to the varying technological needs of different agency environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, audio/video equipment, and related peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving hardware, software, operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, connectivity, remote access, and endpoint security tools.
  • Create, configure, and maintain user accounts and access for new and existing staff.
  • Install, configure, deploy, replace, and maintain agency IT equipment and software.
  • Support on-site and remote access to agency-managed systems, networks, and technology resources.
  • Maintain and update printers, print queues, and print server configurations.
  • Respond to service requests and technical issues in a timely and professional manner and escalate issues when needed.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, configuration records, and knowledge base materials.
  • Assist with monitoring system performance, security, and operational readiness.
  • Participate in resolving service disruptions, outages, and other technical incidents.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software improvements based on business needs, supportability, and cost.
  • Assist with process improvement efforts, including automation of routine support tasks through scripting or basic programming when feasible.

  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Ability to document technical issues, solutions, and procedures accurately.

Ideal Candidate Skills

  • Experience providing technical support in a help desk, service desk, or desktop support environment.
  • Experience supporting a wide range of end-user devices, including computers, printers, mobile devices, and audio/video equipment.
  • Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems and IT service management practices.
  • Ability to provide basic training and guidance to end-users on software, hardware, and agency systems.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Ability to analyze and recommend hardware and software solutions based on compatibility, usability, and supportability.
  • Experience assisting with device deployments, workstation refreshes, and onboarding/offboarding activities.
  • Experience with scripting or automation of routine support tasks.
  • Ability to provide guidance and technical assistance to other support staff when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in information technology support, help desk operations, desktop support, or a related technical support role.
    Substitution: Postsecondary education in information technology, computer systems, computer support, or a related field may be substituted as appropriate for required experience.
  • Experience using computers, standard business software, and common office technology.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for travel between work sites.

  • CompTIA Network+
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals
  • ITIL Foundation Certification

Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
