Position Title: High School Industrial Arts Teacher—Metals 1 & 2

Reports to: Building Principal

Hours: 40% FTE, (Exempt)

Summary

Qualifications:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and committed to Christ-centered education.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts, Technology Education, or related field (required); Master’s degree or higher (preferred)
  • State teaching certification in corresponding content area (required)
  • Experience teaching metals, manufacturing, or related industrial arts courses (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop safety procedures and equipment
  • Ability to integrate faith into technical and hands-on instruction

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage as a member of the school’s spiritual community by attending school events and functions as directed by the Building Principal
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject area(s) taught, including metals fabrication, machining, welding, and safe tool operation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of students as learners and maintain appropriate relationships with students, including when addressing their social-emotional health
  • Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans that include, minimally, the following: instructional objectives, planned teaching and modeling, formative assessments (guided practice), and supplemental resources
  • Regularly review and update department and course curriculum maps to ensure alignment with instructional priorities and pacing
  • Utilize appropriate assessment techniques to inform and evaluate student learning and progress, including project-based assessments
  • Maintain and enforce strict shop safety standards to ensure a safe, healthy, and productive learning environment conducive to hands-on learning
  • Implement effective classroom and shop management procedures, including proper use, care, and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Update all student and school records accurately and completely as required
  • Model effective teacher/parent partnership through timely (24 hours) and proactive communication
  • Keep the building principal informed of serious student issues
  • Implement Christ-centered teaching through pedagogical practices that develop students in alignment with Holland Christian Schools’ Discipleship Practices
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the direct supervisor, which may include, but are not limited to: supervision duties, participation in school events, student project showcases, and extracurricular support
