We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support the Managed Design Engineering Field Design Support group at the Y-12 facility. This role is responsible for developing high-quality electrical design deliverables that directly support construction and operational activities in a highly regulated environment.

The Electrical Designer will work closely with electrical engineers and fellow CAD designers to produce accurate, code-compliant drawings and technical documentation using Bentley MicroStation.

Develop and revise electrical design drawings including:

  • One-line and wiring diagrams

  • Lighting and power plans

  • Installation and construction details

  • Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) diagrams

  • Conduit and cable schedules

  • Fire alarm and communications drawings

Support preparation of data sheets, specifications, and field walkdown reports

Collaborate with engineers and design team members to ensure constructability and accuracy of design outputs

Participate in field walkdowns as required, including work in controlled or radiological areas

Support construction and operations staff by responding to design-related questions and updates

Skills and Requirements

  • Must be onsite 4 days/10 hour shifts

  • Ability to obtain Q clearance

  • 6-10 years of experience

  • Associates degree or higher

  • Strong experience with Bentley MicroStation

  • Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution

  • Experience with industrial control systems

  • Work with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, UL 508A

  • Must be able to support construction and operational activities related to design outputs. Field walkdowns will be required sometimes in radiological contaminated areas.
