Department: Emanu-El Downtown

Schedule: Full-time

FLSA Status: Salary – Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Friday | 9am – 5pm

Wednesday & Thursdays |11am – 7pm

Additional weekends and holiday work as needed

Reporting To: Director of Emanu-El Downtown

Summary

Congregation Emanu-El, the first Reform Jewish synagogue in New York City, is hiring a part-time Afterschool coordinator for Emanu-El Downtown. 

In Fall 2022, the Temple launched Emanu-El Downtown, a satellite location for Young Families in Chelsea. Emanu-El Downtown is a vibrant, welcoming community geared towards babies, kids, and their grown-ups. Exploration, playing, and learning are at the center of everything we do and are infused into all aspects of Emanu-El Downtown.

The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively to foster a welcoming environment for families who attend our programs, including our Religious School Lab. The ideal candidate is a process-oriented strategic thinker with a flexible attitude. This position incorporates administrative responsibilities in addition to providing a safe and welcoming space for our families.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as on-site coordinator for afterschool transportation including assisting with school pick-up from local schools
  • Develop new programs in collaboration with the Emanu-El Downtown director
  • Support the logistics of all Emanu-El Downtown programs
  • Assist with coordinating activities including but not limited to Shabbat dinners, holiday and family events, and field trips 
  • Assist with event registration and billing. Assist in keeping all records up to date in Salesforce and update student information
  • Collaborate with Emanu-El Downtown staff in ushering community members to program spaces
  • Welcome new families into the community and be an advocate for upcoming programs and classes
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families and respond to their concerns.
  • Manage stroller valet

Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of experience in an administrative/ logistics role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Effectively sets priorities and manages multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom and Outlook, and has experience working with data management software, specifically Salesforce
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset, disciplined, responsible and self-motivated
  • Is a team player, working collaboratively with clergy, Emanu-El Downtown staff, school faculty, and parents
  • Familiarity with or interest in learning about Jewish community and culture

Pay: $60,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
