Job Overview

The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager is responsible for providing environmental, health, and safety leadership to all Iofina locations. This role will support Corporate HSE goals and direct HSE activities onsite by achieving HSE objectives and targets, internal reporting of HSE performance and guidance on compliance to national, state, local and corporate regulatory requirements. The HSE Manager will develop and drive a strong HSE culture and standards throughout operations. The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer, Iofina Resources, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Directs achievement of goals in support of corporate HSE strategic initiatives and directs production and field activities in achieving HSE targets & objectives. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key HSE risks.
  • Supports HSE goals for the leadership team and front-line supervisors to drive HSE culture, compliance, and results.
  • Work with team to develop scorecard and metrics to drive and promote a HSE culture toward a zero-incident operations environment. Develop system for tracking of incidents and near misses.
  • Coordinate implementation of safety programs such as Hazardous Communication, Respiratory Protection, Fire Prevention, Evacuation Plan and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
  • Assist in representing management in matters of health and safety with governmental, health and safety associations and other outside agencies and organizations
  • Develops and implements HSE policies and procedures in compliance with local & state, OSHA rules and regulations as they apply to the organization’s operations. Ensure that all production and maintenance operations are performed in accordance with Company policy and OSHA guidelines
  • Facilitates incident investigations and root cause analysis. Assigns Corrective Actions accordingly, and drives closure with sense of urgency
  • Investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required, including communicating to, training, and following up with supervisors and employees
  • Develop, arrange, and present safety orientation and training for all new employees, existing employees, temporary employees, to ensure complete and effective understanding of potential risks and expected behaviors within the Company
  • Conduct safety inspections on site and report deviations to management and operations
  • Review employee safety programs and recommend improvements.
  • Assist production management with updating handbooks and operating procedures
  • Ensures all Risk Assessment/Job Safety Analyses are accurate, up-to-date, and reviewed as required. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
  • Inventory and monitor safety supplies by ensuring appropriate supplies are identified and purchased in a timely and cost-effective manner and used appropriately
  • Define and train on best practices for emergency preparedness and response. Prepare site emergency evacuation plans and ensure all supervisors and contractors are supplied with a copy of the plans
  • Chair monthly safety meetings and prepare minutes of meetings. Ensure that all deviations mentioned in the meeting are rectified and corrected.
  • Ensure all contracts operate under Company Master Service Agreement
  • Uses established HSE processes to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, HSE action items and other pertinent information.
  • Coordinate with site leadership team and facility to ensure that all key HSE operational controls are in place, and that HSE action items are resolves on a timely basis.

  • Record and track and provide monthly reports to management and utilize data and incident investigation results to make appropriate recommendations to management
  • Assist with risk assessment for insurance placement including Workers Comp administration
  • Provide periodic Board level reporting
  • Ensure compliance with public company risk assessment and exposures

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HSE experience working in the industrial, chemical or oil and gas industries
  • Willingness to travel to field up to 50% of the time

  • Proven ability to follow safety, SOPS guidelines and general employment rules and guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate, problem solve, organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decision
  • Team player with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Participating in building a highly capable and motivated team and helping create a positive environment in which to work
  • High level of pride and ownership in other team members and projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
