Quality Specialist

Job Description

Job Profile

The Quality Specialist is responsible for a variety of clerical tasks directly related to the laboratory’s adherence to RI Analytical’s quality systems, standard operating procedures, company policies, and, if applicable, client data quality objectives. The Quality Specialist should maintain current knowledge of commonly used quality practices and have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Primary Duties / Essential Functions

  • Processing laboratory related QA/QC tasks in collaboration with laboratory staff and the Quality Manager including but not limited to training session attendance, demonstrations of capability and Standard Operating Procedure deployment and attestations.
  • Completing data entry and statistical validations, such as Method Detection Limit studies, linear range studies, control charting, measurements of uncertainty, and other items requested by the Quality Manager.
  • Processing data submittals for proficiency testing rounds, acquiring price quotations on proficiency testing studies and repeat rounds.
  • Assisting the Quality Manager with data validation inquiries, customer service requests, and drafting of client responses.
  • Assisting the Quality Manager with maintaining a raw data archival system and quality related documentation in accordance with the RI Analytical’s quality systems.
  • Completing routine compliance tasks, such as quarterly and annual thermometer verifications, signature logs, equipment documentation and scheduling of certification maintenance, and quarterly QC samples.
  • Participating in corrective and preventative actions (CAPA), including documentation thereof.
  • Effectively communicates any issues, concerns, or updates to Quality Manager and/or laboratory management.
  • Adhere to R.I. Analytical’s Chemical Hygiene Plan, Code of Ethics, and other policies defined in the Quality Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Other duties as required or assigned by Quality Manager or laboratory management.

Education Requirement and Prior Work Experience

  • High school diploma required. Associates degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in the English Language.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • 1-2 years of experience in environmental laboratory functions preferred.

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers. This role has the potential to handle laboratory samples and bottle ware which includes handling chemical preservatives.

Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour
