Positions Status: Full-Time

Job Description:

The Pastor provides spiritual oversight and leadership direction to the Church leaders and the congregation. The Pastor will preach and teach on Sunday mornings. Our Pastor will be a compassionate and caring person who encourages people to relate their faith in their daily lives. The Pastor will be a champion of our Church’s mission and vision statement. Our Pastor must be ordained and have comprehensive knowledge of the Bible according to our Reformed faith and teachings.

It shall be the duty of the Pastor to set a good example to the Church and to conduct or approve all services on Sundays, Holidays, and such other occasions as the Church may desire, such as weddings and funerals, to direct the work of religious education, administer the Holy Sacraments, visit the sick, comfort the distressed, and to perform or approve all such duties as properly belong to the Pastor’s office. The Pastor shall keep a record of all services performed and make an annual report of that work to the Church. The Pastor shall keep a complete record of baptisms, reception of new members, transfers, deletion of names, suspensions, marriages, and deaths. All records shall become the property of the Church.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1) Preaching and teaching. The Pastor will be an effective preacher and speaker. The Pastor will be the primary preacher for our weekly Sunday morning worship service and any holiday services.

2) Work effectively with the Church Council and is an ex-officio member of the Church Council and committees under the Church Council.

3) Make pastoral calls on people in hospitals and nursing homes as well as those confined in their homes.

4) Officiate at special services, such as confirmations, baptisms, weddings, and funerals.

5) Lead the congregation in Communion.

6) Minister effectively to people in crisis situations.

7) Work diligently to grow the Church, bring in new members and reach out to inactive members.

8) Able to use modern technology.
