JOB PURPOSE: Ensure the safe, clean, and respectful operation of the Homeless Shelter by adhering to and enforcing established rules and guidelines. Promote a positive, responsible, and healthy environment for clients and staff.

J) Maintain confidentiality regarding client information and shelter operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Maintain a safe and clean shelter, assign, and encourage clients to help with daily chores and monitor follow through.
2) Enforce shelter rules while treating clients with respect, and dignity and sensitivity.
3) Knowledgeable in use of office equipment used in the execution of job duties; must be able to utilize this equipment with or without reasonable accommodation
4) Collaborate with Case Managers to develop and support individual client action plans, including documentation such as written warnings.
5) Conduct client screening and intakes. Assist with application forms and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
6) Answering incoming calls and responding to public telephone inquiries. Note: Media inquiries should always be directed to the Executive Director
7) Conduct hourly safety and security checks inside each building and inspect exterior grounds at least twice per shift. Document any concerns and promptly report them to the Site Supervisor.
8) Forward mail and donations to main office. (Shelter staff may only accept donations of food and supplies, such as paper products, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and office supplies). All monetary donations should be directed to the Main Office at 159 Water Street in Augusta, phone number 207-626-3434.)
9) Maintain the shift log and complete incident reports as required.
10) Conduct bed checks at the beginning and end of each shift.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS NEEDED FOR POSITION:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Must possess a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities, behavioral health challenges, and families with children.
