Innovate! Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GIS Specialist to support geospatial data production, mapping, and database maintenance within an enterprise GIS environment. This role focuses on map creation, data management, and support of GIS applications and workflows, contributing to a wide range of projects including land management, environmental analysis, and infrastructure planning. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior GIS staff and developers to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and usability of geospatial data and deliverables. This position operates within a modern Esri-based ecosystem, supporting enterprise GIS systems, web services, and data-driven decision-making.

Salary Range: $73,000 - $96,000

Position status: Full Time; with benefits

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Perform mapping, cartographic production, and data visualization for GIS projects
  • Create, update, and maintain geospatial datasets and enterprise geodatabases
  • Assist in database design, automation workflows, and analytical procedures
  • Execute data processing, digitizing, and data entry tasks
  • Review GIS outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to user requirements
  • Support development and maintenance of ArcGIS Online content and services
  • Maintain logs, records, and documentation related to GIS activities and datasets
  • Provide GIS support and assistance to internal stakeholders and project teams
  • Assist with workflow development and process improvement initiatives
  • Support preparation of data for field collection and integration of field data
  • Collaborate with team members across GIS production, development, and analysis functions

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

GIS & Esri Platform -

  • ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Desktop
  • ArcGIS Online (content creation and management)
  • Basic familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise environments
  • Understanding of geoprocessing tools and workflows

Data Management & Cartography -

  • Knowledge of geospatial data structures and formats
  • Experience with map design, cartography, and visualization principles
  • Ability to manage and update geodatabases and GIS datasets
  • Understanding of data quality control and validation techniques

Programming & Automation (Basic to Intermediate) -

  • Exposure to Python scripting
  • Familiarity with ModelBuilder
  • Basic understanding of GIS automation workflows

Field Data & Collection -

  • Familiarity with GPS and field data collection processes
  • Exposure to tools such as ArcGIS Field Maps (preferred)

Systems & Tools -

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with GIS-related hardware (plotters, scanners, GPS devices)
  • Exposure to remote sensing or imagery (preferred)

Professional Skills -

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to follow established workflows and standards
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of GIS production experience using Esri software
  • Coursework in cartography and/or graphic design
  • Completion of relevant ESRI training courses (or equivalent experience), such as:
    • ArcGIS Pro
    • Python for Geoprocessing
    • ModelBuilder workflows
    • Map Design Fundamentals
    • Creating and Sharing GIS Content (ArcGIS Online)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with ArcGIS Online organizational workflows and user management
  • Familiarity with geoprocessing scripts and automation techniques
  • Exposure to Lidar data, spatial analysis, or predictive surface modeling
  • Experience supporting enterprise GIS environments or large-scale data operations
