The Surgical Services Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and maintaining accurate surgical schedules to support safe, efficient patient care and smooth operating room operations. You would ensure surgical cases are scheduled accurately, priorities are managed appropriately, and communication between providers, anesthesia, and Surgical Services remains clear and timely.
This role reports to the Director of Surgical Services. Essential & valuable skills gained (in this unit or in this department):
Surgical case scheduling and coordination across multiple providers
Prioritization and time management in a fast-paced environment
Clear communication with surgeons, anesthesia, and clinical teams
Proficiency in Cerner and surgical scheduling systems
Strong attention to detail to support accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety

Essential Job Duties:
Consults with Surgical Services leadership to manage scheduling priorities and daily workflow
Schedules surgical cases accurately while coordinating provider needs, operating room availability, and anesthesia coverage
Maintains up-to-date surgical schedules within Cerner to ensure real-time accuracy
Serves as a communication liaison between the scheduling office, operating room, providers, and staff
Answers and routes calls, messages, and inquiries promptly to support efficient operations
Supports and mentors new staff as needed to ensure consistency and quality in scheduling practices
Qualifications:
Excellent English reading and communication skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Comfortable working with computers and scheduling systems
Effective keyboarding and data entry skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
