The Specialist, Continuing & Professional Development is responsible for creating and managing the quality assurance of youth and adult non-credit education courses. This position works with WKU faculty and staff as well as community members and organization to identify outreach opportunities and coordinate WKU resources to facilitate and support noncredit functions to meet outreach and programming needs. The Lifelong Learning Specialist reports to the Director, Continuing and Professional Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Director, Continuing and Professional Development in advancing Lifelong Learning by developing, marketing, and administering non-credit programs
  • Responsible for administration of programs to include online programs, workshops, seminars, camps, the registration, billing processes and procedures for programs.
  • Represents WKU and CPD within the University and in the community to develop positive working relationships
  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with customers of all ages and backgrounds
  • Collaborates with university departments, and outside organizations to develop online learning opportunities for the community
  • Works with Academic Program Marketing to develop and implement marketing plans to promote non-credit program offerings
  • Directs and manages budget accounts for Lifelong Learning programs and the Society for Lifelong Learning (SLL)
  • Oversees and manages the duties of the Lifelong Learning Specialist and the Society for Lifelong Learning part-time staff member
  • Provides direction and assists in managing student workers

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with adult education, youth camps and nonprofit programs
  • Minimum two years of experience in creating, managing, noncredit programming or training with external partners that might include education institutions, associations, K-12 schools or community organizations
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets
  • Experience in working with marketing in the development of promotional materials and course descriptions

Additional Information:


Salary: $45,348 - $47,028
