Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center is now hiring for their 2026 Summer Swim Team Coaches.

Swim Team Coach must be able to deliver a high-quality swimming program with a high returning rates teaching participants of all ages and abilities water safety and swimming skills in a supportive competition atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Excellent customer service experience and comfortable communicating with parent(s) or guardian(s)
  • Preferred certifications: Lifeguard Training; Water Safety Instructor; C.P.R. for Professional Rescuer; Community First Aid and Safety; A.E.D.; but not required

REQUIREMENTS

  • A passion for swimming and the ability to effectively perform instructional swimming techniques within the established guidelines and structure of Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center
  • Comfortable engaging with children and their caretakers
  • Maintain professional interaction while instructing/organizing swim practice times and meets
  • Structure and enforcing safety policies
  • Ability to effectively communicate via email and additional methods swim team information in a timely matter to ensure a smooth season and participant retention
  • Strive to learn names and enjoy engaging in conversation regarding their satisfaction of our swim team program

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF THE JOBS

  • Instruct and oversee all morning practices and meets
  • Hold seasonal parent / guardian meeting and all other necessary meetings during the season
  • Act as Rantoul Recreation Dept. representative for Conference Board
  • Communicate information to parent(s)/guardian(s) with the Fitness; Aquatic; and Adult Recreation Director assistance
  • Able to make sound judgments and decisions involving rules to the pool and swim team needs
  • Able to make sound judgments in an emergency situation
  • Communicate needs to the Fitness; Aquatic; and Adult Recreation Director in a timely fashion
  • Remain alert at all times while providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for team participants
  • Strive to greet all children by name
  • Development of good strong positive relationships with participants; their caretakers; and other guests attend facility as guests
  • Be professional; alert; courteous; and always tactful
  • Help maintain a safe and clean pool environment
  • Responsible for care and cleaning of equipment used
  • Communicate needs; ideas; complaints and suggestions with Fitness; Aquatic; and Adult Recreation Director
