Chelsea Friday Furniture is a rapidly growing, local, woman-owned furniture business & we are expanding our team! We sell highly curated, brand new, budget-friendly overstock & liquidation items, including barstools, rugs, accent chairs, dining tables & chairs, coffee & accent tables, nightstands, benches, ottomans, faux plants, lamps, art, mirrors, and other home decor.
We are looking for talented, energetic, engaging, & kind Retail Sales Associates with a customer-focused mindset to join us on our showroom floor & help attend to the increasing traffic flow, while maintaining customer service standards.
In this vibrant role, you'll be the friendly face guiding customers through their shopping experience, providing expert advice on furniture and other decor decisions. Your energy will help create a welcoming environment that encourages repeat visits and builds lasting relationships. Whether assisting with product selection, managing transactions, or organizing stock, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional service and fostering a positive shopping atmosphere.
For now, Retail Associates will report to the CEO. As we grow, you’ll have opportunities to grow with us!
Role Overview:
Customer Service & Sales:
- Greet and assist customers: Welcome customers, engage them with questions about their needs & the details of our store, provide a positive, pleasant, and helpful shopping experience, build rapport, and answer questions about products and pricing.
- Offer product knowledge: Develop a mastery of our inventory so as to inform customers about product features, benefits, and overall value to help them make informed purchasing decisions.
- Process transactions: Accurately handle sales & exchanges using the POS system, including cash and credit transactions.
- Meet sales goals: Work to meet team sales targets, promote future loyalty or referral programs, and upsell additional, customer-relevant items to increase sales.
Store Operations & Merchandising:
- Maintain store appearance: Keep the showroom, bathroom, and other areas clean, tidy, and well-organized.
- Handle store presentation: Assist with signage, and ensure all merchandise is properly labeled, priced, and strategically presented when staging the showroom floor to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
- Store layout & traffic flow: Contribute to designing an effective & smooth traffic flow. The showroom floor layout is dynamic, because of how quickly we move our items, so we’re constantly restaging the space to guide customers smoothly through the room.
- Manage inventory: Monitor stock levels by item category, help receive deliveries, and alert the Manager or CEO when certain categories are running low in order to maintain a well-stocked store.
Other Responsibilities:
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members to achieve store goals and ensure smooth operations, including loading customers after purchasing & setting up deliveries.
- Customer issues: Address any customer issues, store credits / exchanges, and questions in a calm and professional manner to ensure satisfaction.
- Follow policies: Adhere to all company policies, including the staff Rules & Expectations & the showroom floor guidebook.
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience is preferred, but if you think you’d be a good fit for this role, apply either way.
- Must be available to staff at least 2 of our weekly shifts.
- Currently we are open weekends, Saturday & Sunday, from 12-4pm.
- You need to arrive by 11 or 11:30am & can leave by 4:30 or 5pm.
- We plan to add Friday hours soon in 2026, as well as possibly Thursday.
- Impeccable customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and build rapport quickly.
- Pro-active & creative problem-solving skills.
- Timely, honest, & effective verbal & written communication.
- Able to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and squat for up to 5 hours per shift.
- A friendly, warm, & joyful attitude that aligns with & promotes our brand.
- Must be a delight to work with, leaving every customer so glad they chose to buy from and work with us!
Nice to have:
- Experience with aspects of merchandising, including product placement, creating attractive & eye-catching displays, and store layout to maximize traffic flow.
- Experience with Shopify’s inventory management system and/or POS.
- Some knowledge of furniture brands and/or interior design.
Pay: Starting at $25/hour, with opportunities for growth, such as potential monthly team performance bonuses. You will be a 1099 contractor (no benefits included).
