Job Description

Part-time Math Coach & Content Developer with ENL Background - SIFE & Newcomer English Language Learner (ELL) Focus; Pre-Algebra Focus.

Part-time Hybrid: 19-25 hours per week through June 30, 2026 with potential for an ongoing half-time position starting July 1, pending funding.

Must be able to travel within New York State.

Bridges to Academic Success (Bridges) is a program that provides educational services and advocates for newcomer students who enter US schools with limited academic skills, including low levels of literacy in their home languages. Bridges supports schools, teachers, and students by helping to accelerate language, literacy, and content area learning through special school programming, curricula, and professional development for educators.

The Coach and Content Developer is responsible for a variety of projects including

  • designing and leading interactive professional learning courses for educators;
  • coaching teachers (in-person and virtually) across New York State.
  • creating curricular materials in math and ENL/ELD for SIFE & newcomer multilingual learners and teachers, under the guidance of coaches and senior staff; Responsibilities include designing teacher lessons and student materials in the Google Suite for secondary students. These include resources such as Google Slide presentations, manuals, student workbooks, instructional materials and facilitator guides. The role requires both technical skills and a familiarity with education and teacher classrooms and resources.

Qualified candidates will have prior experience in adult learning, training and facilitation, professional learning, and coaching for teachers in the field, either at the school or district level.

Additional required skills include an ability to write and review curricular lessons in collaboration with additional curriculum developers, for SIFE and newcomer multilingual learners and formatting to support the Curriculum Lead on this project.

The Math Content Developer & Coach will have experience in math instruction and curriculum design in U.S. schools. In addition, candidates will have experience designing curriculum and lessons targeted to adolescent English language learners.

Although the position is mostly remote, travel to schools is required throughout the school year to work with teachers.

Required experience and qualifications:

  • Knowledge and training in math foundational and pre-algebra instruction for adolescent students and specifically English language learners;
  • 5+ years teaching mathematics &/or ENL in U.S. classrooms, particularly with experience teaching in New York State;
  • Experience teaching math to English language learners, particularly newcomers;
  • Experience delivering professional learning and coaching to teachers or adult learners;
  • Ability to design attractive, user-friendly documents;
  • Technologically adept and comfortable with a variety of apps and online platforms
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Google applications (Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google docs etc.)
  • Experience in lesson and curriculum design;
  • Experience working on a team and handling moving parts on a project;
  • Positive attitude with solutions-oriented approach to work;
  • Flexibility in style of working with others;
  • 3+ years in role regarding curriculum and content development;
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills;
  • Ability to manage time independently;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Office and Google Suite;
  • Ability to learn new applications quickly;
  • Self-directed learner;
  • Bachelor's degree or higher;
  • Teaching certifications;

Preferred:

  • Bilingual Spanish speaker or proficiency.

Compensation: $35-45 per hour, commensurate with experience.
