The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Buildings and Grounds Superintendent position, located at Copper Lake/Lincoln Hills School in Irma, Wisconsin.
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent provides administration of a complex institution physical plant operation. Responsible for planning and directing program of building and grounds maintenance and repair encompassing all phases of heating, ventilation, electrical, water treatment, power plant, sewage disposal and grounds maintenance. Exercise supervision over a crew of skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in maintaining and repairing buildings and grounds and equipment found in the institution. Responsible for supervising all new construction at the facility.
This position is in pay schedule/range 81-03 with a starting pay of $35.20/hour - $45.67/hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
This position has physical requirements, including but not limited to: bending, kneeling, walking, standing, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 75lbs. This position will also work within a wide range of temperatures, in dusty, dirty, or confined spaces.
The hours for this position are primarily 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional evening/weekend hours to meet operational needs.
