What You Will Do
Seeking a motivated and creative Media Production Specialist Intern to support video production efforts at a national laboratory. This role offers hands-on experience producing compelling visual content that highlights cutting-edge science, technology, and mission-driven work for a broad range of audiences.
The intern will assist in all phases of video production, including pre-production planning, scripting, filming, lighting, audio setup, and post-production editing. Working alongside experienced media professionals and collaborating with scientists and communications teams, the intern will help translate complex technical topics into clear, engaging video stories for internal, public, and digital platforms.
This position is ideal for a student or early-career candidate with a strong interest in video storytelling and a foundational understanding of production tools and techniques. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments while adhering to institutional guidelines, safety protocols, and security requirements.
The internship provides an opportunity to build a professional portfolio, gain real-world production experience in a highly technical environment, and contribute to meaningful storytelling that supports national research and innovation.
Project/work plan description: 1-2 minute demo reel or a video they created for a costumer, they would add in their portfolio. And give a presentation on the techniques, processes, and equipment used to create there video.

Undergraduate
Currently enrolled (12 semester credit hours or full-time equivalent) in an accredited undergraduate degree-granting program (or international equivalent)
Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Entering first-year students must provide documentation indicating matriculation into an accredited undergraduate degree program.
Work Location: Onsite/Hybrid: This position is located in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be regularly required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice. Some interns may work a 9/80 schedule at the discretion of management and in accordance with the Student Programs Office guidebook (https://int.lanl.gov/employees/education/_assets/docs/mentor-guidebook.pdf) .

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
