This role is responsible for applying superior electrical engineering knowledge to support NPD, sustaining and productivity designs that have the average to above average complexity. This role will be heavily involved in large technology development for sustaining, production, and new product development projects. This role has the technical ability to work with existing technology. Additionally, this role will be responsible for maintaining engineering quality by mentoring other engineers and peer reviewing designs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the review of customer orders, ensuring their accuracy, and creating the design for custom products and releasing it as needed; utilize a strong understanding of Systems products and offerings while reviewing and analyzing orders
- Research technology and prototype new technology that support the lines of business product portfolio
- Mentor other design engineers, interns and apprentices by reviewing work product and giving technical feedback
- Maintain engineering technical quality by peer reviewing designs
- Test and troubleshoot electrical circuits by using common test equipment such as power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers
- Lead failure analysis and problem solving tactics by using Six Sigma design practices
- Analyze and simulate analog and digital electrical circuits
- Design electrical circuits and PCBs by using Altium Designer
- Define and generate documentation for hardware architecture in new product development platforms
- Build prototype electrical circuits by using basic soldering skills and basic project management skills.
- Write technical documentation like specifications and test reports to support project deliverables.
- Conduct peer review for product design by acting as the technical reviewer on ECNs
- Provide work estimates and develop NPD project schedules
- Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
- Protect Chamberlain Group’s and Systems’ reputation by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- An advanced degree in a directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience
- UL 508A MTR or ability to acquire certification within 1 year of employment
- 5+ years of job-related experience as defined in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Experience with electrical components, switch mode power supplies, power management circuits, motor control circuits, analog circuits, and positioning systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Able to travel up to 10% - domestically and internationally
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- PCB design, display technology, proximity sensors, or radar sensors; experience with wireless communication standards like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to lead a team of engineers to create electromechanical products; strong analytical skills; ability to efficiently communicate to all levels of organization or outside partners; good presentation skills
The pay range for this position is $80,700.00 - $153,750.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). This position is eligible for participation in a short-term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
