Reports To: Lamination Supervisor

Position Overview

The Mold Prepper / Puller supports fiberglass lamination operations by preparing molds, detailing components, assisting with composite lay-up, and safely removing finished parts from molds. This role performs a variety of routine fiberglass and mold preparation tasks, ensuring molds, decks, and hull components meet quality, safety, and production standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, inspect, and detail molds, deck runners, hulls, and small part molds for gel coating and lamination.

  • Inspect molds for defects; identify and report damage or quality issues requiring repair.

  • Perform basic fiberglass lamination support tasks, including mixing and applying resins, gelcoats, fiberglass, foam, and adhesives using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.

  • Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded parts to specifications.

  • Safely pull decks and other components from molds using proper tools and equipment.

  • Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass parts as required.

  • Operate forklifts, overhead hoists, trams, and tugger vehicles to move molds, materials, and finished components.

  • Use hand and power tools such as saws, drills, grinders, and sanders in accordance with work instructions.

  • Locate and position parts using work instructions, fixtures, and blueprints where applicable.

  • Maintain housekeeping, follow quality standards, and comply with all safety policies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support lamination and production operations.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated dependability and reliability.

  • Ability to work extended hours, including planned and unplanned overtime, as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of boat building, fiberglass lamination, or manufacturing experience.

  • Marine industry experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions.

  • Experience operating forklifts, overhead hoists, and composite manufacturing equipment.

  • May be required to work in a non-air-conditioned area.

  • Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, noisy environment.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.50 - $23.18, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors in - $luding job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
