Estate Sale Manager

Job Description

Estate Sale Manager

Aaron's Estate Sales | Part-Time, Seasonal | $18/hour + Commission | Weekend availability required | Health, Dental, Vision after 90 days, plus Mileage | Estimated year-one earnings: $45,000–$50,000

Run sales. Lead a crew. Help families through big transitions.

Aaron's Estate Sales is hiring an experienced Estate Sale Manager to lead our on-site sales from start to finish. You'll be the face of the company to families, the leader of a small Associate crew on sale weekends, and the person responsible for managing every step from the first walkthrough to final cleanout.

This is hands-on, physically active work for someone who loves antiques and household goods, has the people skills to guide a family through a sensitive transition, and has the stamina to run a sale on their feet all weekend. You'll also live on your phone: taking photos, uploading inventory, and updating sale status through mobile apps.

Weekends are the heart of this job. Sales run Friday through Sunday, and weekend availability is required. In return, you'll typically have Wednesdays and Thursdays off every week.

You'll average one sale per week April through Christmas, with a slower pace January through March.

What you'll do

  • Conduct walkthroughs with families to scope sales and set expectations
  • Manage the entire sale process from contract signing through final cleanout
  • Lead pre-sale prep: sorting, staging, and pricing strategy
  • Research and price higher-value items (antiques, art, jewelry, collectibles)
  • Take, organize, and upload photos of inventory and staged rooms
  • Track and update each sale's status in our project management software
  • Schedule and direct Associate crew through prep and sale weekends
  • Run the sale floor Friday through Sunday: customer flow, negotiations, checkout
  • Reconcile sale revenue and report back to the family and to mangement

What we're looking for

  • Prior estate sale, retail management, auction, or antiques/vintage experience
  • Working knowledge of household goods values, or strong research instincts to price quickly and accurately
  • Tech-savvy with your smartphone. Much of this job runs through your phone (photos, project management, point-of-sale, communication), so you should be the kind of person who picks up a new app and just figures it out
  • Physically active and durable. You'll be on your feet most of the day and moving furniture up and down stairs. This role is not a fit for someone who tires easily on their feet
  • Confident leading a small team while staying physically engaged in the work yourself
  • Comfortable with customer-facing work: managing crowds, handling pushback, staying patient all weekend
  • Empathy and professionalism. Our clients are often dealing with loss, downsizing, or family transitions, and how you carry yourself matters
  • Reliable transportation
  • Available every weekend (Friday through Sunday) April through Christmas. This is non-negotiable

Physical demands

This is genuinely physical work. Be honest with yourself about whether it fits. Expect to:

  • Be on your feet 8 to 10+ hours per day during prep and sale days
  • Climb stairs repeatedly. Many homes have basements, attics, and multiple floors
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; team-lift heavier items with crew
  • Bend, kneel, and reach across every room of a home
  • Stay focused, friendly, and in command of a team and a sales floor while doing all of the above

Compensation

  • Hourly: $18/hour for all prep, sale, and cleanout time
  • Commission: 3 to 4% on the company's net per sale
  • Year-one earnings estimate: $45,000 to $50,000 based on roughly one sale per week April through Christmas, plus lighter winter work. Top performers earn more. Managers who can handle larger, more complex estates take on the bigger sales, and their commission grows with them.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, eligible after 90 days
  • Mileage reimbursement

Schedule

  • Sale weekends (Fri to Sun): required, this is the core of the job
  • Prep days (typically Mon to Wed): sorting, staging, pricing, photos, project updates
  • Days off (typically Wed to Thu): your time, every week
  • Busy season: April through Christmas, about one sale per week
  • Slow season: January through March, lighter cadence
