Job Description

Wellington East Girls' College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Education - Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator to manage and administer our successful Duke of Edinburgh's International Award programme. This part-time, term-time position is responsible for the overall coordination, administration, and organisation of the Duke of Edinburgh (DOE) programme, ensuring compliance with DOE national office best practices and WEGC EOTC policies. We envisage the coordinator working 10 hours (approximately) per week for 40 weeks of the school year. Flexibility will be required and we envisage at least 1 regular day or several half-days each week at school and some work can be done from home. Hours will be mutually agreed. Key Responsibilities Include: * Organising and planning all expeditions, including bookings, risk management (EOTC/RAS/SOPs), and assembling trip leaders. * Handling all administrative tasks for the DOE programme, including enrolment, finances, equipment management, and reporting to the DOE national office. * Liaising effectively with students, parents, staff, and volunteer trip leaders. * Providing advice and assistance to participants on their choice of activities and the completion of their online record books. * Promoting the scheme through school communications. We are looking for someone who: * Has knowledge of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme. * Is a natural leader with experience working with young people (ideally young women). * Has experience taking groups into the outdoors/bush. * Possesses excellent communication (oral and written), administration, and organisational skills. * Is self-motivated, proactive, and able to delegate effectively. * Has a solid understanding of outdoor risk management. * Holds a current First Aid certificate (ideally or happy to learn) * Will be expected to attend some trips. Terms of Employment: * Approximately 10 hours per week, term-time only (fixed pattern to be agreed). * Conditions as per the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement – Grade C range, dependent on experience and qualifications. * The successful applicant must maintain satisfactory safety checking (including police vetting) under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
