Our client is a welding and steel fabrication company based in Connersville, Indiana. We build custom fabricated components for industrial clients who demand precision, reliability, and quality. Our team takes pride in delivering products that meet the highest industry standards and customer expectations.

The Role

You'll lead quality operations for our fabrication facility. In this role, you'll ensure every component we produce meets customer specifications and industry codes (AWS, ASME, ISO, AISC). You'll manage inspections, develop quality systems, guide our quality team, and work closely with engineering and production to build quality into every step of the process.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain our Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO 9001 and AWS standards.

  • Review welding procedures, fabrication drawings, and material certifications for accuracy and compliance.

  • Oversee dimensional inspections, weld inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.

  • Lead the quality inspection team and provide technical guidance to welders and fabricators.

  • Investigate weld defects and quality issues, find root causes, and implement corrective actions.

  • Approve finished products before shipment to ensure they meet customer requirements.

  • Conduct internal and external audits and maintain compliance documentation.

What You'll Need

5 or more years of experience in quality management, welding engineering, or steel fabrication quality.

Knowledge of welding codes, specifically AWS D1.1 (American Welding Society D1.1).

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Experience with steel fabrication processes: cutting, forming, machining, and assembly.

Experience performing or supervising non-destructive testing (NDT).

Problem-solving skills and familiarity with root cause analysis tools like 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, or DMAIC.

Nice-to-Have

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS) certification.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other Quality Management System requirements.

Experience with structural steel standards like AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction).

Background in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.

Spanish language skills.
