This position will be part of the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo), which coordinates geographic information systems within the state, creating connections between state agencies and other stakeholders from public and private organizations.
Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) is seeking a motivated Student GIS Technician to support the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo) with key Geographic Information System (GIS) projects. This is a great opportunity for students interested in gaining real-world GIS experience in a government setting.
As a Student GIS Technician, you will assist with:

This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 600 North Robert Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

Education:
Student Worker Eligibility - To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional Senior you must be enrolled in a postsecondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
