Accounts Payable Specialist - I

Job Description

Ward Electric Company is currently hiring a full-time, team-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist I to work out of the company’s Longmont headquarters. The Accounts Payable Specialist position is responsible for accurately entering and coding vendor invoices for payment within accounting system. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely processing of invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting strong vendor relationships through effective communication and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage daily invoice workflow, including receiving, organizing, and routing invoices for approval
  • Review invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
  • Enter and code invoices into the accounting system in a timely manner
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with vendors to address questions or concerns
  • Ensure all work is handled with high level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Support continuous improvement of accounts payable processes and data accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Sound decision making

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience with accounting and invoice coding
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Proven experience in data entry

Additional Details/Work Environment

  • Pay: $20-28/Hour (Dependent on Experience)
  • 40 Hours/Week
  • Standard office hours Monday - Friday
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Consists of sedentary work, can lift up to 10 pounds. Substantial movements of hands, wrists, and /or fingers. Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures or viewing a computer screen.
