A facilities services company is seeking a Senior Commissioning Agent / Commissioning Engineer to support multiple newly awarded projects. They can sit anywhere in the Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati, OH markets. This role will serve as a technical leader responsible for ensuring that complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), controls, and life safety systems are designed, installed, tested, and operate in full alignment with project intent, performance standards, and regulatory requirements.

This individual will play a critical role in commissioning strategy, execution, and client collaboration across several concurrent projects and must be willing to travel as needed throughout the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and execution of comprehensive commissioning plans for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and life safety systems

Review and assess MEP design documents, specifications, and equipment submittals for compliance with owner and project requirements

Direct and perform functional performance testing of MEP systems, documenting results and identifying deficiencies

Serve as a senior technical liaison between clients, contractors, MEP design teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders

Drive issue resolution, corrective action planning, and MEP system optimization recommendations

Author and review detailed commissioning reports, close-out documentation, and turnover materials

Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior commissioning team members as needed

Travel to project sites across the United States as required.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience

10-15 years of commissioning, MEP engineering, or building systems experience

Deep working knowledge of ASHRAE commissioning guidelines, building codes, and LEED requirements

Strong expertise in MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, controls, and life safety systems

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent communication, coordination, and technical documentation skills

Willingness and ability to travel throughout the U.S. Experience commissioning large-scale or mission-critical MEP systems

Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls integration

Exposure to energy modeling, sustainability initiatives, and high-performance buildings

Professional certifications such as CxA, CXCP, PE, or similar

Client-facing experience in a lead or senior MEP commissioning role
