Database Administrator

Verisys Corporation is seeking a Database Administrator for its Louisville, KY headquarters who designs database infrastructure and monitors and troubleshoots database systems. The Database Administrator will work to improve the performance and efficiency of data storage and access systems. Will be responsible for server maintenance and the development of database security systems. Will perform analysis of backup procedures and make upgrade recommendations based on the findings. Minimum Requirements:Must have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field plus 2 years of related experience. Required experience must include 2 years of experience in each of the following specific areas:SQL Mastery: Writing and tuning complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views across all four platforms (T-SQL for SQL Server, PL/SQL for Oracle, and standard SQL for PostgreSQL and MySQL).Database Architecture & Design: Relational database theory, data modeling (normalization, denormalization), and physical schema design (indexing strategies, table partitioning).Performance Tuning: Diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks, including query plan analysis, system resource monitoring (CPU, I/O, memory), and configuration optimization.Backup and Recovery: Designing, implementing, and regularly testing robust backup, restoration, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures for both on-premise and cloud scenarios.Security & Access Control: Implementing security best practices, user and role-based access management, encryption (at rest and in transit), and auditing.High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR): Vendor-specific HA/DR solutions (e.g., SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Oracle Data Guard, PostgreSQL replication/clustering, MySQL replication).This position is fully remote.
