Job Summary
Join our team as a Compost Collector and play a vital role in promoting sustainable waste management practices! In this energetic position, you will be responsible for collecting organic compost materials from designated locations, ensuring proper handling and transportation to composting facilities on our farm. Your enthusiasm for environmental stewardship and commitment to cleanliness will help us reduce landfill waste and support eco-friendly initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Compost Collection routes and scrap processing typically take four hours per day depending on the route, each Tuesday and Wednesday, including administrative tasks. Collectors are welcome to choose the timing of their route as long as they complete their shift before 4 p.m.
  • Either by electric tricycle or unheated electric truck, collect compost weekly from assigned compost route in all weather conditions (routes are rescheduled when Albany Public Schools are determined to be closed due to weather conditions)
  • Process compost at Radix, spray out bins, stack bins
  • Record addresses with when completed/unable to complete
  • Report problems with E-trikes or Electric Truck to Supervisor

General expectations:

  • Attend occasional staff meetings
  • Record hours and classify activity to the appropriate category within 3 days following the close of the pay period
  • Emails should be answered within 48 hours

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant work experience or an interest in compost production and agriculture
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Work requires moderate physical exertion and occasional exposure to disagreeable elements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate record-keeping
  • Ability to work independently while following established routes and schedules
