General Manager – The Fieldhouse
Position Type: On-Site, Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)
Reports To: Ownership
Compensation: $45,000 base annually + bonuses/commission
Paid Time Off: 7 paid holidays + 10 vacation days/year
Position Overview
The on-site General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance, growth and day-to-day operations of The Fieldhouse located at 3785 Lake Park Drive in Covington, Kentucky. This role requires flexibility and a hands-on leader who can manage staff, oversee daily programming and special events, ensure a safe, high-quality customer experience, and maintain efficient facility operations.
The GM serves as the primary point of contact for staff, customers, and ownership, ensuring that the business operates smoothly, professionally, and in alignment with our company goals.
Work Schedule & Availability
- Standard working hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Due to the nature of the business, the GM is expected to:
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Be available and responsive outside of standard hours for operational needs as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain regular communication with ownership.
- Provide updates on staffing, scheduling, financial performance, and programming.
- Maintain accurate records, schedules, and event documentation to ensure smooth operations.
- Escalate staffing, financial, or operational decisions to ownership for approval as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and report any incidents, injuries, or facility issues to ownership.
- Oversee daily cash handling procedures, including deposits, reconciliation, and accurate reporting.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the Fieldhouse, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and readiness.
- Open/close the facility as needed and ensure proper procedures are followed by staff.
- Manage scheduling and coverage to ensure all shifts are staffed appropriately.
- Address and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively, escalating to ownerships as needed.
- Ability to be on-site for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to events and facility operations, including standing for long periods, walking distances, climbing stairs, and occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching, as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Staff Leadership & Management
- Hire, onboard, train, schedule, and supervise all Fieldhouse staff.
- Establish clear expectations and accountability for all staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact and provide day-to-day guidance to staff.
- Identify and communicate staff performance concerns or issues to ownership in a timely manner.
Customer Experience
- Ensure a high-quality, consistent experience for all customers and guests.
- Address customer concerns, complaints, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
- Build relationships with repeat customers, teams, and community partners.
Programming & Events
- Identify opportunities to expand programming and increase utilization of the facility.
- Support marketing and promotional efforts, including outreach, social media coordination, and community engagement to increase bookings and awareness.
- Coordinate and oversee all events, rentals, and programming.
- Ensure events are staffed, organized, and executed smoothly.
Financial & Business Performance
- Accountable for achieving facility utilization, revenue, and operational performance goals set by ownership.
- Responsible for meeting or exceeding targets related to bookings, events, and customer satisfaction.
- Take a proactive role in generating revenue by identifying, developing, and executing new business opportunities for the Fieldhouse.
- Support revenue generation through programming, rentals, special events and partnerships.
- Monitor expenses and operate within budget expectations.
Inventory & Vendor Management
- Manage food and beverage inventory and vendor relationships, ensuring appropriate stock levels based on upcoming events and facility usage.
- Maintain a comprehensive maintenance and repair schedule for facility systems and equipment.
- Ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and presentable at all times.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in operations, facility management, customer service or special events.
- Experience in sports, recreation, or event-based environments is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently while maintaining accountability.
- Basic understanding of business operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and revenue generation.
