Department Summary

The Associate Director develops, coordinates, and manages initiatives that engage and celebrate regional and/or affinity populations and select Alumni Networks in support of the university's strategic priorities and goals. The incumbent identifies, trains, empowers, and supports alumni volunteers to advance the missions of the Ohio University Alumni Association and the university. The Associate Director enhances and facilitates institution-wide opportunities for meaningful alumni engagement by all OHIO grads. The incumbent delivers programs and initiatives that drive awareness and participation across engagement channels and across the university, including but not limited to, alumni traditions, lifelong learning, alumni networks, affinity groups, regional engagement, digital experiences, and cross-campus collaboration. This individual executes programs and manages relationships that support the OUAA's strategies for moving stakeholders through the phases of engagement that result in participation and financial support. The Associate Director represents the Association to a broad audience of alumni, donors, university partners, and administration. Primary accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
  • NETWORK SUPPORT: initiate, enhance, and oversee initiatives that engage regional and/or affinity populations and select Alumni Networks.
  • VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT: Identify, train, support, and empower alumni volunteers.
  • PROGRAMMING: enhance and facilitate institution-wide opportunities for alumni engagement that intersect with OUAA Traditions and Alumni Networks.
Position Profile

Uses professional relationship building skills to identify and cultivate new individual, corporate, and institutional/foundation prospects. Engages external constituencies through programs, events, products, and services and develops customized programs to create, enhance, and sustain external relations. Cultivates relationships with alumni, donors, foundations, and corporations to support the University's mission. Ensures the University has the resources necessary for growth and engages the community to advance its long-term goals.

Level Summary

Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports.

Fiscal Responsibilities

May have budgetary responsibility for small-scale projects or initiatives.

Solves complex problems, often with limited guidance.

Works independently; seeks guidance for unusual situations.

Communication and Collaboration

Collaborates with team members and external departments. May represent the team in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience in creative problem solving with minimal direct oversight.

Pay Rate: Target hiring range for this role is $51,281.00 to $67,947.00 and the final offer will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position.

Work Schedule

This position works year-round and is typically expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some after hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Flexplace and flextime arrangements may be available for this position.

Additional expectations: The successful candidate will have the willingness and ability to travel for events and programs.
