Job Summary

Elm Creative Arts School is actively recruiting licensed and experienced candidates for a Music teaching position. ;

Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is seeking highly motivated and creative individuals to build and implement high quality music education programming. Music educators are part of the vibrant arts community in Milwaukee and have countless opportunities to partner with Milwaukee's professional arts organizations. Educators are supported by the Music Curriculum Specialist and music support teachers in the office of Fine Arts, as well as the Milwaukee Music Educators Association, a growing community of music educators across the district who seek to share best practices and develop a strong and culturally responsive music curriculum.

MPS music educators provide a music curriculum aligned to the Wisconsin Music Standards. In MPS, the teachers and leaders are committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. A MPS teacher provides an instructional program for students which is appropriate to their educational needs and developmental level. ; The educational program is offered in an equitable, multi-cultural setting and teaches all children to think deeply, critically and creatively. ; The teacher supports the MPS strategic plan.

Qualifications

Eligible applicants must apply during the application window and include:

  • Internal and external fully licensed teachers
  • Student or permit teachers, practicum students, and interns who will be fully licensed by August 2026
  • Permit or intern teachers in need of another 1-year license with stipulations for 2026-27
  • Bachelor degreed individuals pursuing a teaching position and licensure

(all specific to grade level and/or content area)

Interview teams may request candidates to submit additional items including, but not limited to, letters of recommendation, sample lesson plans, reference lists, and/or writing samples.

At the time of hire, the selected candidate will need to submit one (1) letter of recommendation dated within the last year and signed by the author and official transcripts conferring his/her undergraduate degree.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The Teacher salary range starts at $54,386.11 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully licensed K-12 teaching experience.
