NOW HIRING: Environmental Health Support Specialist I/II

Full-time position


Under the direction of Environmental Health Division Manager, the Environmental Health Support Specialist role is responsible for performing programmatic duties and providing clerical support to Environmental Health programs as assigned. This position focuses on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of Franklin County Public Health.


Duties Include:


  • This position will provide direct support to Environmental Health Division Manager or designee. This role provides programmatic and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing, and copying. Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence, and create standardized letters, notices, and mass mailings.
  • This role will help customers with questions and licenses related to public swimming pools, body art, campgrounds, animal bites, rabies tags, water quality, food facilities, solid waste, plumbing, etc.
  • This position interacts with the public in person, by phone, email, and by audio/visual communication; they will respond to questions and requests for information or public records, answering incoming. Receive and receipt payments from customers. Processes and balances payments received.
  • Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • This position will issue, collect, organize, and process applications, permits, licenses and plans. Enters data, maintains databases, and creates reports. Assists in development and distribution of program reports and data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


Environmental Health Support Specialist I


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ training or experience in office practices and procedures to include customer service, and data entry, and computer systems or 1 year experience within government administrative/customer service operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy and ability to learn new information quickly.

Environmental Health Support Specialist II


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ experience in government administrative/customer service operations or 3 years’ experience specific to environmental health customer service/administrative operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy and ability to learn new information quickly.

Hiring Hourly Wage:


  • Environmental Health Support Specialist I: $20.30/hour - $23.35/hour. This is a non-exempt position.

  • Environmental Health Support Specialist II: $22.63/hour - $26.03/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
