Heavy Equipment and Transport Operator About the Role We’re looking for an experienced loader and truck operator to join our EcoDrop team in Christchurch. You’ll be responsible for moving waste safely and efficiently using heavy equipment across multiple sites, including loader and hook truck operations. This is a hands-on role on a six-on, three-off rotating roster, requiring strong health and safety awareness and the ability to work independently. Key Responsibilities • Operate loaders and hook trucks to manage pit floor and bin logistics • Perform daily pre-start safety checks and follow site SOPs • Support public safety and compliance at EcoDrop sites • Assist in recovering recyclable materials and maintaining site standards • Communicate clearly with kiosk operators and team leaders via RT • Support site traffic management and customer direction as required About You • Hold Class 1–4 NZ driver licences and W endorsement • Experience with heavy equipment and trucks • Road Ranger gearbox experience • Comfortable in a physically demanding, outdoor environment • Strong safety mindset with the ability to follow set procedures • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team • Previous waste or recycling industry experience is advantageous but not essential Why Join Us? • Competitive hourly rate • Full Southern Cross Wellbeing One health cover • Four weeks annual leave • Stable, long-term employer with clear operational processes and team support • Work that supports a cleaner, more sustainable Canterbury How to Apply If you’re a reliable operator with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety, we’d love to hear from you.
