Position Summary
The Adult Programming and Outreach Specialist increases The Library’s engagement in the community and supports the needs of adult learners by assisting in the planning, coordination, and implementation of adult programs at all library locations and outreach sites.
1. Implements and monitors exceptional customer service.
2. Under the direction of the Adult Programming and Outreach Coordinator, assists in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of adult programs in the library and through outreach.
3. Attends the Adult Programming and Outreach Committee meetings to assist in program development planning.
4. Ensures program materials are ordered, delivered, and prepared for adult library programs.
5. Travels throughout Dauphin County to host adult programs and attend outreach events.
6. Acts as a resource to members and staff on adult programming and outreach activities.
7. Explains The Library’s policies and procedures.
8. Determines and prioritizes daily assignments using a variety of communication tools.
9. Proactively promotes The Library’s programs, collections and services in all library and outreach settings.
10. Attends staff meetings and assigned continuing education workshops.
11. Lives the Core Values.
12. Performs other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training: Training: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Development (GED) equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of two years of customer service experience and two years’ experience working with adults in a group or one-on-one setting. Experience: Two years of active experience using MS Office Suite or equivalent and searching the Internet in a Windows environment. Comfort with or open to learning Zoom and A/V technical skills is preferred.
Required: Current and valid driver’s license is required to operate a Dauphin County Library System vehicle, insurance underwriter with a minimum of three years driving experience, ability to move materials within and between locations, sufficient mobility to perform programs for adults, ability to lift 20 lbs. unassisted, bending, and reaching.
