Central Otago District Council’s Digital Services department supports the information, technology, and systems our staff rely on to deliver services to the community. We focus on providing reliable, secure, and practical digital services that enable staff to work effectively across the organisation. This is a hands-on technical role supporting Council’s day-to-day operations and longer-term digital capability. You will help maintain secure, reliable ICT systems, provide responsive support to users, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our infrastructure and services. ICT Systems Administrator Job Description You will work within the Digital Services department, reporting to the Team Leader – Digital Workplace and Infrastructure team and collaborating closely with Digital Services colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation. Key Responsibilities: • Support, administer, and maintain Council’s ICT systems, infrastructure, and end-user computing environment • Provide technical support for escalated incidents, service requests, and operational issues across a range of systems and devices • Contribute to the delivery and improvement of secure, resilient, and well-managed ICT services • Create and maintain clear documentation, standards, and technical procedures for systems and services • Work with staff and vendors to understand requirements, resolve issues, and support continuous improvement • Assist with patching, security, device management, and system upgrades in line with Council standards and good practice • Participate in an after-hours on-call roster to help support critical Council systems when required This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, values strong customer service, and wants to contribute to digital services that make a practical difference across Council. About you: We are looking for someone who brings a mix of technical capability, sound judgement, and a strong customer focus. • Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, or equivalent practical experience. • Experience supporting a range of end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, iPads, and mobile phones. • Exposure to ITIL/service management practices • Working knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, and modern device management practices. • Experience supporting hybrid/cloud environments • Experience with Microsoft 365 and common business applications used in a modern workplace. • Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to customer service. • Good organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a willingness to keep learning.
