Tuwharetoa Health is seeking a professional, proactive, and highly trusted Board Secretary to support our Chief Executive Officer and Board of Trustees.This is a pivotal role where your expertise will help ensure strong governance, seamless operations, and meaningful impact for our whanau and communities. This is a part-time role, with engagement options available as either an employee or independent contractor, subject to mutual agreement. Key Responsibilities: Board and Governance Support • Coordinate Board and subcommittee meetings, including scheduling, venue arrangements, agendas, and distribution of Board packs. • Prepare accurate and high-quality minutes, maintain action registers, and track follow-up actions • Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, including Charities Act requirements and IoD NZ standards • Maintain accurate governance records, policies, and documentation • Act as a liaison between the Board, CEO, and key stakeholders • Manage Board correspondence (inward and outward) • Assist with preparation of reports, presentations and organisational documentation • Coordinate travel, meetings, and conference arrangements • Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence • Support Executive Management Team administration as required • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the CEO Skills & Experience: • Proven experience in a Board Secretary, or a senior administrative role • Demonstrated experience supporting Boards and committees, including agenda preparation and minute-taking • Strong understanding of governance processes, compliance, and records management • Exceptional organisational and time management skills • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism • Experience working within a kaupapa Maori health or social services sector would be highly advantageous Qualifications: • Demonstrated experience working with Boards is essential • A Tertiary qualification in a relevant field would be highly regarded • Current Full New Zealand Driver License is essential What we offer: • A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and cultural heritage. • Opportunities for professional development and growth within the organisation. • A chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of whanau and our community.
