Location: Upstate South Carolina
Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried
Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 annually
Reports To: Board of Directors
Supervises: All Staff

About The Parenting Place

The Parenting Place is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect while strengthening families through evidence-based parenting support, counseling, home visitation, and community collaboration. Our programs include Healthy Families Foothills, Counseling & Support Services, and community-based prevention initiatives that promote healthy, happy childhoods across the Upstate of South Carolina.

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief administrator of the organization under the direction of the Board of Directors. This leader is responsible for overseeing all organizational operations, programs, financial management, strategic growth, fundraising, staff leadership, and community partnerships.

The ideal candidate is a mission-driven leader with strong nonprofit management experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to inspire teams, cultivate donors, and build collaborative community relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership & Administration

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all agency programs and services
  • Supervise and support all staff members while fostering a positive and collaborative work culture
  • Lead weekly staff meetings and bi-annual strategic planning meetings
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contracts, grants, and best practices
  • Maintain personnel files, evaluations, and professional development records
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to support governance and strategic planning
  • Attend all Board meetings and prepare monthly operational and financial reports

Financial Management & Fund Development

  • Develop and administer annual organizational budgets and grant budgets
  • Oversee financial reporting, recordkeeping, audits, and fiscal accountability
  • Lead fundraising efforts including grants, donor development, sponsorships, and community partnerships
  • Write grants and pursue contracts supporting agency programs and services
  • Cultivate relationships with businesses, foundations, churches, and community leaders

Program Oversight

  • Oversee all prevention, counseling, and Healthy Families Foothills programming
  • Ensure fidelity to evidence-based program models and data systems
  • Collaborate with national and state research partners on grant initiatives, data collection, and quality improvement
  • Support ongoing staff training, supervision, and leadership development
  • Ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement across all services

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Serve as a public spokesperson for the organization and its mission
  • Build collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, agencies, and community organizations
  • Speak at community events, churches, businesses, and professional meetings
  • Work with staff and leadership to strengthen organizational branding, outreach, and visibility

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Experience working within culturally diverse communities and organizations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, philanthropy, and donor development
  • Experience with public speaking, strategic communications, and community engagement
  • Knowledge of public policy advocacy and nonprofit operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and organizational management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or related field
  • Experience serving as an Executive Director or senior nonprofit leader
  • Experience in child abuse prevention, family services, home visitation, or early childhood programs
  • Knowledge of Healthy Families America, Triple P, or similar evidence-based models
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors
  • Experience with major gifts, capital campaigns, grant management, and nonprofit fiscal oversight
  • Experience with marketing, public relations, and community outreach
