The MTech Business Relationship Manager, is responsible for effectively administering development and execution of a business strategy to accelerate the growth of the University of Minnesota Bookstores business through building and executing sales via internal and external sales channels. The manager will assist in defining strategy and closely coordinate the efforts of the various sales channels for the M Tech and the University of Minnesota Bookstores.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Oversee processing of all technology and supplies ordered via the primary Bookstores e-commerce site and/or University departmental orders placed via the U Market site.
- Maintain product files on U Market and Bookstores e-commerce sites.
- Set up new SKUs in BKS point-of-sale system.
- Monitor and release reorders for consumer electronics products.
- Work independently on the e-commerce sites and Apple Device Deployment system.
Location and Work environment: On-campus, main location in Coffman Memorial Union with other locations as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- 35% Institutional and Business to Business (B2B) Order Management
- Process, receive, ship and track ecommerce orders, custom orders, credit memos, invoices, and out of stock notifications.
- Assist with Apple Device Enrollment (DEP) setup for various University units to ensure seamless hardware management.
- Manage inventory levels for all technology products on the MTech floor.
- Ensure stock is accurate in the inventory system.
- Responsible for doing regular cycle counts of hardware products.
- Manage customer CRM profiles and vendor invoices, ensuring accurate payment processing and billing between internal and external accounts payable systems.
- Serve as the primary liaison for MTech sales order inquiries, maintaining high-level relations with buyers, University staff, and external business partners.
- 25% Bookstores e-Commerce (non-B2B)
- Lead ecommerce coordination by monitoring inventory levels across multiple platforms and creating custom SKUs for departmental orders within the point-of-sale system.
- Conduct reviews of all online orders to verify academic pricing eligibility and ensure adherence to institutional discount policies.
- Critically analyze transaction data and Address Verification Service codes to mitigate risk and prevent fraudulent charges.
- Advise management on emerging technologies, retail trends, and competitive merchandising strategies to optimize product selection and store growth.
- Maintain proactive communication with managers/buyers regarding inventory control needs and the integration of new vendors or product lines.
- 25% - Customer Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving sales order issues and managing high-volume communication across multiple customer, staff, and vendor email accounts.
- Foster positive internal and external relationships, actively supporting the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity within all customer interactions.
- Function as a versatile team player, providing essential support to management, office staff, and sales floor operations to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- 10% - Payroll Deduction Lead
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of deduction applications to verify signatures, documentation, and applicant eligibility against company policy and regulatory standards.
- Set up customers payroll deduction within the payroll deduction system.
- Partner with Finance to perform pre-payroll audits, ensuring all new deductions are accurately captured and reflected in the current pay cycle.
- Maintain meticulous archives of all application outcomes for internal audits while monitoring trends to propose workflow improvements and reduce manual data entry.
- 5% - Special Projects
- Work at Twin Cities System Stores and special events as needed.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned and assist in all areas as needed.
