About the Role

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School Science Teacher to inspire curiosity and foster a love for science among students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop engaging lesson plans, utilize innovative learning technologies, and create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and critical thinking. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in various scientific disciplines, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to nurturing young learners’ scientific understanding and skills.

Duties

  • Design and deliver comprehensive science lessons aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating hands-on experiments, dissections, and research activities to enhance student engagement.
  • Develop innovative instructional materials and utilize learning technology tools to support diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, creating a positive environment conducive to learning and curiosity.
  • Assess student progress through standardized testing, project evaluations, and formative assessments; provide timely feedback to support growth.
  • Mentor students in scientific research projects, guiding them through laboratory experiments such as microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics.
  • Plan and execute laboratory activities with safety as a priority, ensuring proper dissection techniques and lab procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and educational best practices to continually improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and science advancements.

Experience

  • Proven classroom experience teaching middle school science or related grade levels in private or public school settings.
  • Strong background in multiple scientific disciplines including biology (cell biology, genetics, microbiology), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (geometry, trigonometry), and mathematics (algebra, calculus).
  • Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, and integrating technology into instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage classrooms effectively while fostering a respectful and motivating environment.
  • Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and educational research methodologies.
  • Prior experience mentoring students in scientific research or laboratory settings is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of special education strategies and behavior management techniques to support diverse learners.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as instructional design, higher education teaching methods, Montessori or other specialized educational approaches is a plus.
