Competitive & Scientific Insights Lead
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities of this role, Competitive & Scientific Insights Lead, are to:
Strategic Scientific and Competitive Intelligence // enhancing competencies in scientific, competitive, and IP intelligence to support innovation and strategic decision-making
Ensure state of the art competencies for activities related to scientific and competitive intelligence and IP Science with a focus on digital and AI.
Develop team expertise related to scientific, competitive, and IP science insight generation and compliance, covering data acquisition, analysis, delivery, and communication to accelerate and protect innovation.
Attract and develop talent with capabilities to detect and analyze relevant trends and opportunities that support rapid decision making to strengthen our competitive and strategic innovation position in the industry-particularly in scouting, ecosystems, and partnership activities across R&D.
Coach competencies for activities and interactions around external data and technologies, with insight providers and partners to drive key decisions.
Talent Development and Team Dynamics // building a high-performing, inclusive team equipped with the necessary skills to navigate complex interactions and stakeholder relationships
Attract and develop talents with capabilities to negotiate, manage interactions, and deal with external stakeholders including data and insight providers relevant to competitive and IP science and internal and cross-divisional dependencies
Build a high-performing team and talent pipeline by selecting, attracting, and developing an inclusive team that matches the work unit's strategy on skills and career needs.
Forecast talent needs and create plans for hiring, internal mobility, and critical-skill development.
Design and ensure consistent, high-quality onboarding to accelerate productivity and cultural assimilation.
Catalyze continuous learning, leadership development, and coaching to retain and grow talent.
Maintain succession plans for key roles and manage internal talent pools.
Lead the development of Communication & Outreach skills to ensure effective engagement and representation of Bayer in international forums, conferences, and multilateral events.
Organizational Culture // fostering a culture of trust and accountability
Create a culture of trust across the organization, achieving DSO principles of empowering teams, ownership, and accountability.
Oversee and operationalize performance processes (goal-setting, reviews, feedback cycles), coaching managers to deliver fair and development-focused performance conversations.
Act as the primary escalation point for people-related issues within the hub, partnering with HR/Legal to resolve conflicts and compliance matters with confidentiality and fairness.
Architect and oversee transformative initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and build organizational capabilities for sustained competitive advantage.
Skills & Qualifications
PhD degree with 8+ years of advanced science leadership experience, MS degree with 10 years of advanced science leadership experience; 8+ years of experience including technology and/or business strategy development and implementation; and driving innovation.
Proven track record of successfully leading, developing, and mentoring highly educated, skilled team members in a global environment, and experience leading direct and cross functional teams.
Demonstrate and embrace VACC leadership attributes, strategically fostering a collaborative culture within the home space.
Strong cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to connect with a broad diversity of external scientific and financial stakeholders
Proven track record of successfully managing transformation programs

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $ 191280- 286920. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
