Salary will be based on the district’s teacher salary schedule.
The Science Teacher will provide high-quality instruction that supports student learning in science-related content areas while promoting inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application. The ideal candidate will create a positive and engaging classroom environment, build strong relationships with students and families, and contribute positively to the overall school community.
- Provide direct instruction to students in individual, small group, and full-class settings.
- Use student data and identified learning needs to guide instruction and promote student achievement of district standards.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects using assessment data aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards, Iowa Core and district expectations.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials that reflect best practices and meet the needs of individual students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of students.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate instruction in alignment with established district curriculum expectations.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records as required by law, district policy, and administrative guidelines.
- Develop and maintain reasonable expectations for student behavior and classroom procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and participate in conferences as needed.
- Implement district policies, procedures, and expected practices with fidelity.
- Conduct student assessments to identify learning needs, guide instruction, and determine appropriate interventions.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback and progress updates to students and families.
- Collaborate with appropriate building and district personnel regarding student needs and supports.
- Adhere to the Iowa Teaching Standards.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships and work cooperatively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Project a positive image as an educator in both the school and community.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently
- Maintain a positive attitude and adapt to changing situations and responsibilities.
