The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to join a thriving small firm with an established client base, immediate substantive responsibility, and genuine mentorship from a senior attorney with 29+ years of experience. Responsibilities
- Handle real estate transactions from contract to closing
- Draft and review estate planning documents including wills, revocable living trusts, and presentations at estate planning seminars
- Manage probate and trust administration matters from opening through final distribution
- Support personal injury files during an initial onboarding period, with increasing PI file responsibility as competence and judgment are demonstrated over time
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, title companies, lenders, and courts
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, billing records, and file documentation
- Work collaboratively with paralegal staff and delegate appropriate tasks
- Attend closings, court hearings, depositions, and client meetings as required
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Illinois (Wisconsin license preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Experience preferred; new admittees with strong academic background and clerkship/internship experience will be considered
- Experience in real estate, estate planning, or litigation preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with attention to deadlines
- High degree of professionalism, client empathy, and ethical judgment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, experience with Smokeball and AI systems is a plus
