Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction Syracuse, NY · Full-Time, On-Site Salary: $65,000 – $90,000/year (commensurate with experience) + bonus, vehicle/mileage allowance, full benefits
About the Role We're a Syracuse-based commercial general contractor with an active pipeline of projects across Central New York — including office, retail, healthcare, industrial, and institutional builds ranging from $100K to $10M+. We're hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support our PM team from preconstruction through closeout. This is a hands-on role with a clear path to Project Manager.
What You'll Do
- Support PMs in managing schedules, budgets, submittals, RFIs, and change orders on active commercial projects
- Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners — by phone, email, and on-site
- Maintain project documentation in Procore (or similar) and keep logs current
- Help track buyouts, scopes of work, and subcontract compliance (insurance, bonds, prevailing wage where applicable)
- Assist with takeoffs, bid leveling, and preconstruction estimates
- Walk job sites with the Superintendent, identify issues early, and help drive resolution
- Support monthly billing, owner pay apps, and subcontractor pay app review
- Manage closeout: punch lists, O&M manuals, warranties, and as-builts
What We're Looking For
- 1–4 years of experience in commercial construction (PM, PE, estimating, or field-to-office transition all welcome)
- Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent field experience
- Comfortable reading drawings and specs across all CSI divisions
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through — you close loops without being asked twice
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel especially); Procore, Bluebeam, or PlanSwift experience a plus
- Valid NYS driver's license; OSHA 30 a plus (we'll pay for it if you don't have it)
Nice to Have
- Experience with NYS prevailing wage, SUCF, or DASNY projects
- Familiarity with design-build and CM-at-risk delivery
- LEED, AGC, or CMAA coursework or credentials
